The Ten Most Anticipated Events of 2026

10.  Obligatory Comic Book Adaptation Mentions:  It is hard to get excited for comic book movies or shows these days because both Marvel and DC seem to be at the start of reboots.  Even worse is that Marvel is still dumping shows that seem to fit in with the old plans.  So, Wonder Man (January 27) is getting dumped this month to little fanfare.  Then we are getting second seasons of Daredevil: Born Again and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man whose first seasons were mediocre at best.  But at least there are only two movies, Spider-Man: Brand New Day (July 31) and Avengers: Doomsday (December 17).

Only two DC movies too.  First up is apparently drunk Supergirl (June 26) and a, um… Clayface (September 11) movie, who was introduced in a cartoon.  Then there will be a Lanterns show because the movie went so well.  But hey, Netflix will come in and reboot everything again in 2028, so I am not getting very invested.

9.  Ready or Not 2: Here I Come (April 10):  Sequels can be iffy, especially cash crab horror movies.  But the first one is shockingly great.  Add Kathryn Newton as Samara Weaving’s little sister and this may be the one gratuitous sequel that actually works.

8.  Men’s World Cup (starts June 11):  FIFA may be the most corrupt origination in the world (which is saying a lot) and the lead up for the World Cup has been a disaster for the US team, and yet, I am still excited for the games to start.

7.  A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms (January 18, HBO):  The final season of Game of Thrones was trash, House of the Dragon has been a bit of a slog, yet no matter how many times they fool me, I will always happily return to Westros.

6.  The Odyssey (July 17):  Chriopher Nolan has been hit or miss for me lately, but he can do epic.  And there is so much to this story, even his usually lengthy runtime should not feel too long.

5.  Margo’s Got Money Problems (April 15, Apple TV):  Elle Fanning playing an OnlyFans entrepreneur?  Sure, I will watch that… whenever I get around to resubscribing to Apple TV which apparently dropped the + because… who know?

4.  Project Hail Mary (March 29):  I have not read the book, but there is enough hype around this movie that I am just going in blind, not even watching the trailer, and hoping for the best.

3.  2026 Winter Olympics (opening ceremonies February 6):  The Olympics are coming to Milan.  Unfortunately, that means a lot of evens will happen while I am asleep, but I am still excited for the return of curling to television and the return of NHL players to the hockey tournament.

2.  New Olivia Rodrigo Album (TBA):  Olivia recently “renewed” her driver’s license on the fourth anniversary of her first single which hints at new music.  She manages to avoid the dreaded sophomore slump, so here is hoping to continues her streak to three great albums.

1.  PONIES (January 15, Peacock):  They had me at Emilia Clarke teaming up with Haley Lu Richardson, but making them PONIES (People of No Interest’es) and inept spies during Cold War shoots this show to the top of my most anticipated list.  This may just be Spies Like Us but Female.  But Spies Like Us but Female sound awesome.

57 Channels and Only This Is On: December 21, 2025

Survivor:  The casting spoilers for 50 kind of ruined this season. Despite being in the minority alliance since the merge, it was obvious that Savannah and Rizo would somehow manage to go a little father.  Though, thinking they would go far but probably not win made the finale less obvious than it would have been obvious.  Sure, once Sophi botched her Knowledge Is Power, Savannah was the only worthy winner left.  Rizo theatrics were annoying, Sage irrationally voted of allies for no good reason, and Kristina did nothing all season and for some reason expected Savannah to know family names after two weeks despite being on the outs with almost everyone on the Jury.

But now Savannah has the chance to be the first back-to-back winner ever!  Hopefully she is able to get the Billy Eilish Boomerang Idol.  Or maybe that is something no one wants.  Who know?  Maybe the Zac Brown Deal or No Deal briefcase is good.  Maybe it is bad.  But way to ruin what should have been a historic season.  Even worse than all the celebrity cameos, there was very little Savannah or Angelina in the promo.  All I want for Christmas is for those two to be in an alliance.

Around the Tubes: December 20, 2025

I have gotten a plethora of cool press releases flooding my inbox recently that you may find interesting. This post includes blurbs on Tell Me Lies, The Artful DodgerThe Testaments, Paradise, Made in KoreaThe Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball, Sabrina Carpenter, and Good Side of Bad.

- The eight-episode third season of “Tell Me Lies” premieres January 13, 2026, with the first two episodes.  “Tell Me Lies” Season 3 follows Lucy Albright (Grace Van Patten) and Stephen DeMarco (Jackson White) as they've rekindled their tumultuous romance in time for spring semester at Baird College. While they promise things will be different this time, past indiscretions hinder their best intentions, and Lucy finds herself embroiled in a controversy she wants nothing to do with. Meanwhile, the disastrous repercussions from the previous year also force Lucy and Stephen's friends to face their own destructive behaviors. As scandalous secrets fester around campus, vicious consequences threaten Lucy and everyone in her circle.

- Sabrina Carpenter takes viewers behind the scenes of her #1 Billboard Hot 100 hit “Manchild” in the latest episode of Vevo Footnotes. Joined by music video co-directors Vania Heymann and Gal Muggi, Sabrina breaks down the creative vision, wardrobe choices, favorite scenes and hidden easter eggs that make the video so memorable.   In the episode, viewers learn how the shoot extended to three days, the total number of outfits in Sabrina’s wardrobe and how her sister hand-stitched her jean shorts for the featured look. Vania Heymann and Gal Muggia add that their concept was a trailer-like video that was inspired by self-revelation, Americana and disco-era sensuality to provoke a specific timeless feel.  WATCH HERE
